The Best 30x60 Tent Layout Options for All Your Upcoming Events

The 30x60 event tent is about to be your new best friend! A tent this size has 1,800 square feet of usable space for your midsized weddings, company picnics, tailgating events, or any event you want.
Planning events is hard. It’s time consuming. Take one thing off your plate and avoid last minute headaches by planning your 30x60 tent layout before your big event.
When you’re making your arrangements for your 30x60, it’s important to note what tent style you’re working with. Frame tents and pole tents are similar, but they have different setup and setting arrangement needs.
Tent Style Considerations & How They Affect Your Event Layout

Frame tents and Pole tents are the most common types of tents for large celebrations. They both serve a similar purpose, but depending on your event, one might work better than the other.
-
Pole tents are a solid choice if you like the sweeping peaks that come from the center poles. A pole tent is set up by using the tension of the center poles and the outside poles; which makes them a good pick if your event is on grass or other stake-able surfaces.
-
Frame tents are held up by the outside frame structure rather than center poles. You’ll have an unobstructed view throughout the entire tent, which makes for unlimited seating arrangements and layouts. Popular frame tent styles include the standard Atrium Frame Tent, Constellation clear tents for elegant events that highlight natural light and atmosphere, and Ameritrac keder tents, which use a track system for easier installation and are ideal for long-term setups.

Seating Capacity Overview for a 30x60 Tent
For a 30x60 event tent, you would be able to fit between 150-257 guests depending on the layout you choose.
Keep in mind that these numbers are based on a full tent layout. If you have other elements and decorations, those will take up seating space:
-
Wedding aisles are typically 5’ wide for easy walking
-
Dance floors are around 4-5 square feet per dancer, with about 50% of people dancing at once
-
Bars and bar stools will depend on what layout you go with
-
Head tables, gift tables, buffets, and more will also need to be taken into consideration when figuring out how many people can fit in your tent.
Using a capacity chart such as this one would allow you to plan more efficiently for your upcoming event!

Ceremony Layout

Commonly used for weddings, graduation ceremonies, church services, and corporate events, ceremony layouts are typically made out of straight rows of chairs with a 5’ central aisle. Ceremony layouts can fit many people in one area, which is a great option for presentations or showcases.
We recommend spacing the rows 24-36 inches apart back-to-back to give guests enough space to walk to their seat without disturbing the people around them.
Reminder: altars, arches, staging, and other elements will reduce the amount of seats available for your guests!
Helpful tip: use tent sidewalls or a smaller tent to stage the bridal party to keep them hidden before the wedding starts! These can also be used for catering or other elements you don’t want your guests to see.
Cocktail Layout

When it’s time to mix and mingle, cocktail layouts are the one to beat! Cocktail layouts often have standing cocktail tables and bars that encourage standing and walking around. There’s more space between each table so there’s more room for guests without feeling closed off.
Lounge furniture can spruce up your area and give your guests a place to sit if they are done at the bar. Couches, benches, and chaises may be placed sporadically throughout the tent and are able to be placed in a number of ways.
Cocktail arrangements are generally well-suited for mingling-focused events where people will be standing for a majority of the time. Please note that not everyone will need a seat at the same time.
Banquet Table Layout

Banquet table seating is a popular choice for wedding dinners or corporate picnics because they can seat a large number of people in a single place. They are often long rectangular tables arranged in rows to fit as many tables as possible. Great for catching up with friends or family during a wedding!
Banquet tables require minimum logistics to set up and tear down, which means you can get back to hosting or more fun things than tables!
Remember: If you have a buffet, head table, bar, dance floor, or other elements, you may have less seating available for your tables!
American Tent’s advice: Your dance floor can be covered with tables during dinner, and uncovered when you’re ready to get the party started!
Round Table Dinner

Round table dinners are popular for a reason! They’re more intimate, have a more elegant, and aesthetically pleasing look to them. Round tables are incredibly popular for weddings so guests can easily talk with each other without being too loud!
However! They require more space so people can move around without disturbing the other guests. Meaning, your available seating will be slightly lower than if you were to use banquet tables.
Don’t forget to allocate space for additional items such as head tables, stages, buffets, or other tent decorations you may be using!
Multi-Function Layout

Need one tent to do it all? We got you! If you’re working with a smaller budget, use the 30x60 event tents for more than one purpose while keeping things easy for your guests. With a tent this size, you’ll be able to split the tent for a ceremony and cocktail hour, cocktail hour and dinner, or any combination of uses for your events!
Use curtains or sidewalls to section off your tent until you’re ready to use the other side. Don’t stop the party! Just move it over!
Hint: You can hide operations behind the scenes if you don’t want your guests to see.
